WINTER IS OVER NOW WHAT
Winter is over and the combined effects of the elements of nature can raise havoc on your RV.
Before your first trip of the season take a few steps to get your RV ready. Give it a thorough inspection. Lookfor andy cracks or separation of seams on the body and roof. Look inside for stains on the ceiling. Look under the coach for any fluid leaks.
Next wash and wash the exterior. Use specialized wheel cleaners to make your tires and wheels shine. Vacuum the carpet and clean if it’s needed. Check all fluid levels and connections. Look for chewed wires and hoses. Check amount of LP and if the appliances are working.
Drain and flush the freshwater tank. Add 1/4 cp. bleach and fill tank to almost full capacity leaving room for sloshing in the tank. Run the hot water to get the water through the water heater. Drain the tank. Refill with 1/4 cp. of baking soda to 15 gallons of water. Drive around so it sloshes around, then drain and refill with fresh water. Test the water pump and heater. Check and change any fluids that need to be. Check the batteries electrolyte levels and check battery connections.
Check lug nuts, tire pressure and for cracks on the tires.
Replace batteries on alarms and detectors. Check and fill first aid kit. Make sure you have flares, gas can, jumper cables, reflective triangles, tools, and duct tape. Stock cabinets with food and entertainment needs.
